SETTING UP YOUR PERSONAL SIGNATURE
- Log on to the Chapter 57 Delphi Forum
- You must edit your "PROFILE" to enter the HTML code to display signature text and/or a picture
- The easiest way to edit your profile is to click on your name in the "Members List"
- The picture you display must be on a web site somewhere on the internet
- It cannot be displayed from your home or work computer.
- If you have a picture uploaded to the Chapter 57 Members list, you can use it
- If you don't have a picture on the Chapter 57 Members list, see me at any ride and I'll take some for you
- I can either email them to you or put one up for you.
- To find out the "ADDRESS (URL)" of the picture, go to www.chapter57.com
- Click on "MEMBERS"
- Click on your picture in the list on the right side of the screen
- Right click anywhere on the picture and click on "Properties"
- Use the "ADDRESS (URL)" that is displayed starting with http and ending with jpg
- Do a "COPY" of the whole line and "PASTE" it between the quotes in the second line below.
- The following example of the HTML code will display my picture and 2 lines of text below it if entered as is
- I suggest you use the sample HTML code to get it working and then change it to what you want.
- Click on "My Prefs" and scroll down to "Personal Signature"
- Do a copy and paste of the following:
<center>
<img src="http://unclebob.mangle.ca/tourer0406_0027.JPG" width=275 height=200 >
</center>
<center>** BoB "Uncle BoB" Strohm, SCRC 57261 **</center>
<center>** Life is too short, enjoy it while you can **</center>
- The code you pasted should look like the following:
** BoB "Uncle BoB" Strohm, SCRC 57261 **
** Life is too short, enjoy it while you can **
- You can enter a picture only using the first 3 lines
- You can enter text only using the last 2 lines
- If you want to display a different picture than what is on the Chapter 57 Members list, then you can change the address between the quotes starting with http://
- Scroll down to the bottom and click "Submit" when your signature HTML code is complete.
TESTING YOUR SIGNATURE
- You can test your signature without posting a message.
- Click on "Post New", select a folder, enter a "Discussion Title"

ADDING ATTACHMENTS
- After logging on to the Chapter 57 Delphi Forum
- At this point, either reply to or start a new post.
- Once the "Post" page comes up, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Attach Files".
- A new window will open. Click on "Browse"
- Another window will open to let you browse through the folders on your computer.
- Select a file and click on "Open", then "upload".
- You can upload more files if you still have space left on Delphi.
- The "Document Space" pie chart will show you how much you have.
- Select "Done" when finished.
DELETING ATTACHMENTS
- Out of attachment space? You are not alone.
- Delphi only gives 1MB of attachment space
- Delete old attachments, freeing up space for new ones.
- Log on to the Chapter 57 Delphi Forum
- Either reply to or start a new post.
- Once the "Post" page comes up, scroll to the bottom of the page
- Click on "Attach Files".
- In lower right corner of the file attachment window, click on "click here to find your old attachments" link.
- The next screen will show a list of your posts with attachments
- Pick a post with an attachment you want to delete and click on the link.
- When the post comes up, click on the "Edit" link.
- While in edit mode, notice that one of the buttons below the text box says "Manage Attachments"
- Press the "Manage Attachments" button.
- The next popup window that appears lists the files attached to that post
- Select the file, then press the "Delete selected attachment" button.
- You have just freed up as much space (kb) as the file you deleted
- Repeat this process until you have opened up enough space to attach the file(s) you want.
- Once you have deleted an attachment, it will no longer show up in any messages that it was attached to
BETTER WAY TO ADD PICTURE ATTACHMENTS
- Find a site that lets you upload pictures for free
- Here are some examples. I prefer Webshots.
- Make sure you keep a copy on your computer. Some sites do not let you save or download a picture without paying for it
Image Shack
Phanfare
Google
Picturetrail
Webshots
- upload your pictures to one of the above sites
- Post the link to the pictures in your message that you post in the Delphi Forum.
- You can get the link by displaying the album with the pictures you want to diaplay
- Copy the address in the address bar (it usually begins with HTTP://)
- Paste the address into your message
Corrections
- Please report any corrections to the Chapter 57 Webmaster
